Frequently Asked Questions

  • Any student graduating from Teton County School District #1 is welcome and encouraged to apply. This includes home-school students.

  • The total number of awards vary from year to year, but TCSP typically offers 65-75 scholarships. Many scholarships provide awards to more than one student and so the total number of awards is usually between 150-200.

  • Scholarships range in value from $500 to more than $20,000. The average award for student winners is around $5,000.

  • Students are welcome to apply for any scholarship for which they are eligible, but the application process can be time-consuming; we recommend that you focus on the scholarships that best fit your needs and your strengths.

  • On average, 150 students apply each year.

  • We announce the winners at a special community event each year in late April. View the current important dates on the Apply for Scholarship page

  • TCSP wants to give families as much flexibility as possible to pay for college, and so our scholarships generally apply to all costs of attendance. These include:

    • Tuition and fees

    • Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment

    • Cost of housing and food

    • Transportation expenses

    • Fees related to school medical insurance and services

    • Costs of obtaining a license, certification, or professional credential related to your degree

    • Please note that the IRS is stricter on what it considers qualified educational expenses. Funds used for non-qualified expenses like housing, food, travel, and insurance may be subject to taxes.

    • Please keep in mind that not every scholarship can be used for every expenses. The specific parameters of each scholarship are outlined in each description.

    • Personal expenses, such as entertainment, recreation, clothes, self-care and grooming services, etc.

    • Activities that do not generate credit toward your degree, certificate, or license

    • Non-academic programs (as example: National Outdoor Leadership Program (NOLS) and Outward Bound)
