Feeding the Whole

Although state and federal programs provide free or reduced-cost lunches, the unique economic conditions in Jackson (higher wages combined with a much higher cost of living) mean that many families who need help don’t qualify under these programs. Feeding the Whole ensures that no child goes hungry. More than 900 local children benefit from the program, which provides free meals, fresh fruit and veggie snacks, school lunch debt forgiveness, nutrition education, and much more, all while working to reduce the stigma associated with food insecurity.

Jean Coldmsith Impact Fund

Jean Coldsmith was a champion for all students, but worked especially hard for those who had suffered trauma or loss in their lives. The Jean Coldsmith Impact Fund enables students to receive vital mental health care services from licensed providers. This program provides 8-10 sessions free of charge and is available to any TCSD#1 student who is in need.

Straighten Up

For kids with serious orthodontic issues, poor alignment of teeth can lead to severe pain and inability to eat. Straighten Up changes that by providing free orthodontic care to students who have a demonstrated extreme need and no other means of receiving treatment.

Love Your Teeth

Good oral health is one of the foundations of childhood wellness, yet many TCSD#1 families lack access to affordable care. Love Your Teeth teaches kids about the importance of oral hygiene, provides free dental screenings for TCSD#1 students in grades K-5, and pays for advanced, critical dental treatments for K-12 students who have no other means of receiving care.

School Enrichment Grants

Due to budget constraint 25-26 school year, these grants have been suspended. We hope with donor support, we can resume these grants next fiscal year where we can provide grants to all 10 public schools in Teton County. This program enables teachers to create projects and programs that would not be possible within the district budget. These range from arts workshops and STEM initiatives to greenspaces and playgrounds, cultural programs, mindfulness trainings, classroom libraries, and much more.

Scholarships

We are proud to administer the Teton County School District #1 Scholarship Program by managing the scholarship cycle for funders and students. Each year, dozens of local businesses, service organizations, families, foundations, and individuals come together to provide more than 80 scholarships to graduating seniors. These awards total more than $1 million across more than 166 individual awards. Click here to learn more.

Live Performances

Due to budget constraints, this program has been suspended the 25-26 school year. With donor support, we hope to resume this program next fiscal year since access to the performing arts can be a challenge for many families. Our Live Performances program enables every TCSD#1 students to attend an arts performance including music, theater, or dance. These amazing events are arranged in partnership with Off Square Theater Company and Dancers Workshop, and often include student performers as well as audience members.

Reading Recovery

Due to budget constraints, this program has been suspended the 25-26 school year. With donor support, we hope to resume this program next fiscal year where we can support this TCSD#1 literacy intervention training program for teachers. Each year, this program provides specialized training to TCSD#1 teachers who then craft individualized approaches to help young readers you may be struggling. The program has been hugely successful in getting kids on track with their reading, building life-long literacy skills, and creating avid readers.

Cubs Cares

Many teen parents find it difficult to balance childcare with school and drop out. This can lead to a lifetime of struggle for both the parents and the child. Cubs Cares provides free year-round childcare for teen parents enrolled in TCSD#1 schools, allowing them to focus on building a better, brighter future for their family.

Jim and Becky Rooks Afterschool Activity Fund

Jim and Becky Rooks believed that afterschool activities give kids an essential chance to grow, learn, and develop friendships outside of the classroom. This fund, started by Jim and Becky’s family, provides grants to students in need, enabling them to participate in a wide range of activities and clubs, from sports and music to art classes and more.
